AI Tools to Enhance Your Life

A weekly newsletter created by inquisitive minds for inquisitive minds.

This week, one of the world’s most influential business leaders, JP Morgan’s CEO Jamie Dimon, made a bold prediction about AI’s impact.

In his annual letter to shareholders, Dimon said he believes the consequences of AI are just beginning to be understood. He compared AI to other major inventions of the past several hundred years such as the printing press, the steam engine, and electricity.

When Jamie Dimon talks … people listen.

In this week’s edition, we’re sharing a great way to up your prompting prowess, AI-powered products from Samsung, a potential game-changer in online shopping, and AI story time starring your little ones.

A big welcome to all our “AI Espresso” subscribers. We’re thrilled you’ve joined our AI-curious community. Now, let’s dive in!

AI Productivity

You've probably heard about different AI models such as ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot, battling it out for the top spot. But let's be honest, what matters to us isn't their speed or strength—it's how they make our lives easier.

There's one difference that's worth exploring; finding the model that’s easiest to prompt to get the most useful answer.

Anthropic has just released a very useful prompt library for their latest Claude 3 model, covering everything from work tasks to leisure activities.  Everyone can access the library, however, so the prompts are compatible with Claude’s free version and likely to improve your favorite AI chatbot.

Some prompt examples that caught our eye are meant to boost productivity and enhance careers: Excel Formula Expert, Corporate Clairvoyant, Ethical Dilemma Navigator, Grading Guru, and Career Coach.

If you have some extra time on your hands, check out:  Culinary Creator, Time Travel Consultant, Storytelling Sidekick, Dream Interpreter or Hal the Humorous Helper.

Honestly, the best part isn't the prompts; it’s the reminder that the better you explain what you want from these AI tools, the better results you'll get. It's all about being specific, giving examples of the output you want, and iterating.

So, dig in and have a go. And, if you have any prompt tips and tricks to share with our AI-curious community, reach out to us here. We’ll showcase a selection of your recommendations in a future edition.

AI Better Living

Get ready for AI to transform the humdrum routine of household chores into time-saving tasks with greater efficiency and ease. Korean tech giant Samsung is out with a premium line of customizable appliances designed to make your life a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.

Called Bespoke AI, Samsung’s intelligent AI solutions were first introduced in 2023 and are now making their way into physical devices. Here are some of the products getting a smart tech boost.

We get it – all this tech intruding in our everyday lives can seem overwhelming at first (so much to learn!) but Samsung appliances also feature Bixby voice assistant to help you manage the products through your voice.

Samsung also has a loftier goal: extending the lifespan of our appliances and shrinking energy bills. Bravo to a smarter way of living!

AI Online Shopping

For most of us, shopping online for clothes (that fit!) can be a real pain. Trying to visualize exactly how you might look in that jacket, shirt, or pair of jeans takes more than your imagination, especially when the models are nothing like your body type. Sizes and fitting too large? Too small? Can AI come to the rescue?

Here’s an intriguing AI-powered solution – Kopia is a personalized and interactive online shopping experience that allows shoppers to ‘virtually try-on’ outfits from their favorite clothing brands.

Kopia partners with apparel retailers, providing the platform where anyone can try on clothes virtually. It's like having a personal stylist right at your fingertips. Here’s how it works:

Kopia is relatively new and it’s anyone’s guess whether major retailers will adopt this technology. But other companies are rushing to develop similar tech that will customize the online retail experience.

This is one example of the ways AI can spark a platform shift for the $250 billion e-commerce apparel market and help solve one of life’s little frustrations, no returns necessary.

AI Kids Stories

Last December, we introduced the idea of AI-generated storybooks for your little ones, and ever since, we’ve been amazed at how quickly the space is growing. We recently discovered Oscar -- an AI-powered storytelling app where kids can star in their own adventures.

Imagine a tailor-made tale generated nightly and set in deep space, a medieval castle, or under the sea, turning children’s dreams into personalized stories. With Oscar, bedtime might just become the highlight of their day.

Developed in Vienna by a team working closely with parents, Oscar ensures child-safe content that's engaging and educational. The app’s narratives are rich with valuable life lessons, covering honesty, kindness, bravery, empathy, and more. What sets Oscar apart:

You can start with a free trial and if you like Oscar, you pay for each story as you go. For a sampling of free bedtime stories, you can read here.

For fans of classic literature, Oscar reimagines favorites like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "The Jungle Book," placing your child right in the middle of these beloved tales. Plus, you can convert these customized stories into audiobooks, featuring calming voices to help bring on the z-z-z-z’s.

The one thing we wish Oscar offered -- the option to download and turn these stories into actual books so family members and friends can send them as gifts. Hey, Oscar, are you listening?
